Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck have finalized their divorce settlement, concluding their two-year marriage.
Lopez filed for divorce in August 2024, coinciding with the anniversary of their 2022 wedding ceremony in Riceboro, Georgia. The couple had initially eloped in Las Vegas a month prior to their Georgia celebration.
The settlement specifies that neither party will request spousal support, and both will retain assets individually acquired during their marriage.
Affleck will maintain his stake in the production company Artists Equity. The couple’s $61 million Los Angeles home remains on the market, with profits from its sale to be divided between them.
Lopez and Affleck’s relationship dates back over two decades, beginning on the set of the 2001 comedy “Gigli,” where their on-screen collaboration blossomed into a real-life romance.
They first became engaged in November 2002, with Affleck proposing with a custom 6.1-carat pink diamond ring from Harry Winston. However, they postponed their September 2003 wedding due to intense media scrutiny and officially parted ways in January 2004.
Both went on to marry others and start families but rekindled their relationship in 2021, much to the delight of fans. Affleck proposed again, this time with an 8.5-carat green diamond engagement ring, a gem significant to Lopez for its rarity and personal meaning. They married in a private Las Vegas ceremony in July 2022, followed by a larger celebration in Georgia.
Despite their efforts to make the relationship work, reports emerged in early 2024 that the couple had been living separately. Lopez canceled her summer tour to spend time with her family, and they listed their Beverly Hills home for sale. These developments culminated in Lopez filing for divorce in August 2024.
Throughout their separation, both Lopez and Affleck have aimed to handle the process gracefully and amicably, focusing on their respective families and careers. The divorce settlement is expected to be finalized by February 2025, officially closing this chapter in their lives.
