The Vance family captured national attention during President Donald Trump’s inauguration on January 22. Millions watched as the new vice president and second lady introduced their children—Ewan, 7, Vivek, 4, and Mirabel, 3—to the nation in a heartwarming moment that resonated with viewers across the country.

At just 40 years old, J.D. Vance is the youngest vice president to assume office since Richard Nixon in 1953. His family is also the first with young children to reside at the official residence since Al and Tipper Gore in 1993, making their presence at the Naval Observatory a historic one.

A Message of Gratitude

Vice President Vance took to social media to express his appreciation for the opportunity to live at the historic three-story home, which dates back to 1893 and is nestled on a 73-acre property surrounded by lush, forest-like grounds.

“My kids are settling into the Vice President’s official residence, and I just want to say: thank you to the American people,” Vance shared online. “While we don’t own this property, it is a beautiful home for our three little kids. We are grateful and will take good care of it.”

“There is nothing that he cares more about than being there for his kids,” she said. “He wakes up, you know, after a really late night of travel—he wakes up at 6 a.m. to make sure that they have some elaborate breakfast the next day. He is just determined to be there for them.”
